The EU has been beavering away for some years now trying to agree a ‘Directive’ which would limit the number of hours we all work.
I am proud to say that I played a walk-on part in helping block this impertinent and damaging collectivist initiative; the British Embassy in Warsaw worked closely with successive Polish governments to hold firm in favour of ‘flexibility’.
Here is where matters look to stand now. Hope of a compromise is fading.
Good!
Here is The Crawford Working Time Directive, in full:
1 How long I work is none of your damn business.
2 If I cause an accident because of work-induced long hours fatigue, I’ll accept responsibility and take out insurance accordingly. My employer (if any) should do so too: no prospect of gain without sharing the risk of inflicting unnecessary pain.
3 Now go away.
A compromise along those lines should readily be acceptable to most normal Europeans?
