Here is a shrill squawk from the playpen about ‘high pay’.

And here is an adult talking about the same subject.

Note the differences.

The spoilt naive Kiddies have no concept of risk or responsibility, so they call in some sort of grumpy grandpa from the government to solve their problems for them and (presumably) thereby assume all responsibility for the outcome using someone else’s (ie taxpayers’) money.

The Adult by contrast breaks down the issues into different categories, and proposes arrangements whereunder people and organisations in many different ways themselves take responsibility for outcomes (and themselves pay a price if they mess up).

A totally different worldview.

The former = passive, fatalistic, cribb’d and basically pessimistic. It discourages risk-taking and therefore creativity/growth.

The latter = active, dynamic, expansive and basically optimistic. It sets an intelligent framework for risk-taking and therefore incentivises creativity/growth.

It’s best to grow up.
