She is going to own the wise, smart grandmother,” Walsh said. “Embracing the title grandmother – rather than running away – makes her real, makes her human, makes her a more fully rounded candidate.” (Note the shifty comparative.)

It starts. The Feminist-Media Complex starts to bludgeon the world in general and American voters in particular into wanting Hillary Clinton to replace B Obama.

You might think that this could be difficult. What possibly qualifies a woman known to be a serial liar to assume such an important office?

It started early. During the Nixon/Watergate proceedings Hillary Clinton as a young lawyer was denounced for egregious breaches of basic professional ethics:

“Hillary then removed all the Douglas files to the offices where she was located, which at that time was secured and inaccessible to the public,” Zeifman said. Hillary then proceeded to write a legal brief arguing there was no precedent for the right to representation by counsel during an impeachment proceeding – as if the Douglas case had never occurred.

The brief was so fraudulent and ridiculous, Zeifman believes Hillary would have been disbarred if she had submitted it to a judge

As Tacitus says, “opinions differ” on how far those disgraceful machinations could be blamed on Hillary personally, as opposed to a wider team effort. But there is no doubt whatsoever that by that point Hillary Clinton was old enough (a) to know exactly what she was doing and (b) to have chosen to pull back from explicit dishonesty designed to thwart key constitutional processes:

Neither my first column on the subject nor this one were designed to show that Hillary is dishonest. I don’t really think that’s in dispute. Rather, they were designed to show that she has been this way for a very long time – a fact worth considering for anyone contemplating voting for her for president of the United States.”

Then years later we have the baffling lie about Hillary landing at Sarajevo airport and scuttling to safety under sniper-fire from hostile natives:

What of course happened was that she gave a warm woman-to-woman solidarity hug to a war criminal.

Moving on, we see the Benghazi scandal when she lied about the deaths of her own colleagues while standing in front of their very coffins. Revolting.

And now, perhaps the most amazing if least surprising of all, we now have her email scandals. She wants to run in part on her record as US Secretary of State, yet she has deliberately organised her e-life to make sure that Americans can not inspect her record. Desperate cynicism, combined with a sense of entitlement and political privilege that soars off the scale.

Were H Clinton a Republican she would be driven from public life by the well deserved howls of outrage. As it is, she has a chance only because huge swathes of the US media have no principles and manipulate the facts to ignore her lying and puff up her miserable record.

So we face a sustained barrage of “Go girl!” op-eds from people aiming to numb down US voters into ignoring facts and policies and instead wearily accept that Granny Knows Best:

This historic moment is tremendous and real. In 2016, it won’t be all about who can pose with the biggest guns or wear a cowboy hat with the most masculine panache. This is about the future of our country – a future that includes the very important, symbolic and necessary vision of the first woman president

Feminism ad absurdum. It does not matter if a woman is fit for high office or honest or credible. Any woman will do! As long as she’s a Democrat!

VDH explains it comprehensively:

Hillary is both a victim and trailblazer. Her disastrous record of unethical and illegal activities — shaking down foreigners for donations to her foundation while secretary of State, creating her exclusive server for a private email account, destroying all her emails after admitting that she was judge and jury of what were and were not government records — is instead proof of right-wing McCarthyism.

Those who attack her are afraid of a woman president and what she represents — an inclusive social agenda that protects gays, women, and minorities from right-wing hooliganism and religious bigotry,  fire-and-brimstone anti-abortionists who want entrance into our bedrooms and to erect glass ceilings to thwart feminists, reincarnations of Bull Connors and Lester Maddoxes who would put blacks back in chains, nativists and restrictionists who hide their racism by faux calls for border enforcement, and greedy speculators and stock manipulators who care little for the 99%.

That is Hillary Clinton’s past, present, and future. There is nothing more. No record — ever — of success, no innate charm, eloquence, brilliance,  or campaign savviness. And given her iconic female candidacy, her turn, her money — and the lack of an alternative — Hillary Clinton needs no agenda, whether a past one to defend or a future one to rally to.

The agenda is simply that Americans are not doing well because of all sorts of illiberal enemies who conspire to thwart them due to their class, race, and gender — and the nation’s first woman president will make it all nice.

Don’t laugh. It may well be a winning formula in the present-day United States.

I’m not laughing. There’s nothing there except crude ambition filtered through focus groups drawing on vast sums of elitist cash, with everything else abstractified, side-stepped and ignored.

Plus I’ve just read the rambling Labour Manifesto for the forthcoming UK election. I’m crying.
